Housing Scheme at Royal Victoria Docks
Construction is underway on WE5, a 13 storey 150 unit residential housing scheme close to the Royal Victoria Docks with Weybridge Construction.
The building has a basement car park, which extends under the ground floor and a communal pedestrian area. The ground floor will be a mixture of office retail and with residential units to the remainder of the floors.
After an un-exploded bomb survey was carried out a contiguous piled wall was installed to enable the basement to be excavated. Piled foundation and reinforced concrete pile caps were then constructed. The main floor plates were designed as a flat slabs to speed construction programme using finite element analysis.
Design work started on the project late December 2005 with the first pile being installed in March 2006.
