CPD Foundation Lecture
Norman Train gave a CPD Foundation lecture on masonry defects and repairs last week to an audience of 150.
Utilising his experience in surveying and investigating both stone and brick buildings, he considered the spectrum of defects that can occur, illustrating these with numerous examples. Defects, he suggested, grouped into movement, erosion or weak assemblies. He went on to explain various repair techniques for both stone and brickwork, including cathodic protection of stone clad steel framed buildings, the Regent Street disease.
"As a Practice we have considerable experience in the repair of Grade Listed stone and brick buildings and it wsa not until I came to put this lecture together that I appreciated quite how many we have completed over the years", Norman said.
