Woolwich
As a planning condition for Durkan Estates 328 residential unit redevelopment of the Royal Military Academy, Woowich, a detailed site investigation ws required together with a remediation scheme for any contamination found. Validation was also required for any remediation undertaken.
Train and Kemp were asked to appraise the previous site investigations in relation to the proposed scheme to establish project specific requirements. By careful appraisal of the test results, we were able to demonstrate that excavation for the works would deal with all the areas of contamination and that a separate remediation scheme would not be required. With remediation being completed as part of the construction works the LB of Greenwich further accepted that validation testing was not necessary.
This gave Durkan Estates certainty in both risk management and programming of the project.
Maidstone
Mote Park is a grade listed country house, set in its own parkland, which is being redeveloped as 100 retirement cottages and appartments. Train and Kemp completed an intrusive environmental assessment of the site, subsequently developing a remediation strategy which was agreed with the Environment Agency and the Local Authority. The remediation was implemented, with appropriate document control, and was validated with post remediation testing. The validation report was accepted by the Environment Agency.
