Pipera City, Romania: Sods off into the night….
Work commenced last week on the first stage excavation for the double basement at Pipera City, Romania with removal of the rough grassland. The site is over 12 Hectares and the first stage excavation of 220,000 m3 will take the next two months to remove. Work will then commence on the construction of the first 50,000m2 office building in this € 1.0 billion mixed development scheme.
Because of the chronic traffic conditions in and around this part of Bucharest, the ground workers have elected to undertake the excavations at night so that they can increase the productivity of the their muck away wagons explained Mike Spencer, Train and Kemp’s project director. The results are significant with some 3,500m3 being excavated each night, he added.
